I apologise that things have been a bit quiet on the charity case front. Rest assured, I am still doing my thing a day, but there are a couple of things that have meant less updates in the last week or so.
As mentioned in my update post last week, there is a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment, which I’m looking forward to sharing with you all very soon!
Secondly, I have been taking stock as to why I am doing this. I have to say, in light of what happened in Woolwich a week ago today, I have never hoped more that some good will come out of what I’m attempting to do.
I have heard of the overwhelming response Help is for Heroes have received, with people wishing to somehow show their support. I feel it is my duty to look a little further afield at other lesser known charities, and so I searched both Google and the charity commission website for charities containing the word ‘army’. I found the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Families Association (SSAFA) through Google, and made a small donation to them.
A search on the charity commission website, and a total of 214 containing the word ‘army’ appear.
There is also Armed Forces Day coming up at the end of June, so check out their website to see what activities will be going on in your area.
So if the events of last week have had an impact, there are plenty of ways we can all do a little something to bring out a small silver lining.
